McHappy DayProject OverviewMcHappy Day is one of Australia’s largest annual fundraising events. Its aim is to help seriously ill children and their families by raising money for Ronald McDonald House Charities. In 2007 McDonalds sought a colourful and attractive site that gave a brief introduction to McHappy Day and that, most significantly, incorporated celebrity and store registration functions and a CMS. Our SolutionGuided by existing logo design and general thematic direction from the client, Professional Public Relations (PPR), a series of templates were designed for the public site, the guest only pages and the many emails generated for celebrities and celebrity agents. Link’s designs in this regard complemented a unique CMS with broad access levels and added to the usability of the site’s many features. Nowhere is the compatibility of design and development of a site more critical than in a situation like this where an exhaustive list of end users need to understand and respond to instructions that ultimately feed data into the CMS. The CMS enables PPR and McDonalds to manage celebrity involvement, list celebrities by state or by agent and add celebrities. They are able to manage the contact with and allocation of celebrities to specific McDonalds Stores on McHappy Day, avoiding double-up and allocating places as fairly as possible according to ‘preference’. Successful Outcome The completed celebrity registration system tracks all details of those attending - what store and when. Following the initial success and positive feedback on this product, in November 2008, for the second year running, Link provided McHappy Day event coordinators with even more tools to make McHappy Day 2008 a great success, through the development of visitor pages giving patrons details of which celebrities were scheduled to participate and at which stores around Australia. |
