Landtasia Organic FarmsProject OverviewLandtasia is a certified organic agricultural enterprise located in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. The business sought an ecommerce system to facilitate the sale of organic beef directly to families in the Canberra and greater region. Our SolutionA key component to working cohesively with Landtasia, was understanding the business’ aim to position itself as a provider of healthy, organic and sustainable lifestyle choices: not just a butcher. It was agreed through ongoing communications that the look and feel of the website needed to complement this philosophy and that the site should also include a number of features, additional to the online ordering facility, in support of this ‘higher goal’, including, a recipe section, customer information bulletins, essays and comprehensive environmental impact advice. Link has developed a site that provides an innovative, virtually unprecedented ordering system, linked to the production capacity of the Landtasia ranch. While most ecommerce sites rely on the storage space of a warehouse and their own ordering regimen to maintain stock levels to meet demand, Landtasia must contend with far more restrictive variables – the age and availability of livestock. Given this, an ordering system was devised where orders are connected to a calendar of likely beef availability. Another unique requirement in the ordering process that Link has facilitated is the inclusion of ‘cut sheets’ from which selections are made for each order. This provides end users the opportunity to have their meet butchered to individual specifications (well worth considering especially given the average order of a side of beef weighs some 80kg!). Soon to be added to the site, Link has also developed a secondary shopping cart functionality where additional sundry items can be ordered, either for delivery with the meet or separately. A comprehensive content management system supplied by Link, enables Landtasia to assign different levels of access for staff to manage and maintain the site. Through this system staff can access and update: payment scheme details, cut sheet definitions, product definitions, beef availability calendar. They are also able to list and search orders, invoice, list and add any promotions and run reports. Various other features have been developed such as generic email generation for customers on the ‘standby’ list. Successful OutcomeThe site includes contemporary and appropriate imagery, design and flash features and the unique ordering system has proven effective. As the scope of the Landtasia site continues to grow with the business, so to does the abiding relationship between Link and this enthusiastic client. |
