After winning Best International Short Film at the Toronto International Film Festival perhaps it wasn’t a surprise that the same short by Sotiris Dounoukos would also go on to win an award from the Canberra Critics Circle this week. For those that haven’t seen Un Seul Corps (A Single Body), it is a masterfully crafted story.

“This beautiful, tightly constructed portrait of male friendship is set against the raucous and grisly backdrop of an abattoir, where best friends and skilled workers David and Wani diligently ply their trade as they dream of opening their own butchery.” ~source: TIFF.net

Link is proud to be supporting Sotiris on his next project, which has just received funding from Screen Australia and will be shot in the ACT.

Coinciding with a function at the Australian Parliament House yesterday, funding for Joe Cinque’s Consolation was announce on the Screen Australia website.

Fandango Australia will make the chilling true story Joe Cinque’s Consolation, a tale about a young law student who announces to friends that suicide is her only escape from an unhappy relationship, but as her sanity spirals downward it becomes clear she has something more sinister in mind. The film will be directed by recent winner of Toronto International Film Festival Best Short Film, Sotiris Dounoukos (A Single Body), who co-wrote the screenplay with Matt Rubinstein. Sue Murray (Charlie’s Country) and Donna Hensler will produce. ~ source: screenaustralia.gov.au
